About the Role

The Transport Manager coordinates the movement of domestic freight from National, Regional, and Temperature Controlled Distribution Centres to the store network, and from Suppliers to Distribution Centres. This role involves managing transport provider performance and expenses while ensuring vehicle safety and legal compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Drive safe practices with carriers
  • Manage daily freight movement from Distribution Centres to the store network
  • Collaborate with distribution centres and transport providers to ensure smooth stock flow
  • Develop relationships with transport providers and key stakeholders
  • Liaise between distribution centres, transport providers, and stores to resolve delivery queries
  • Manage and review freight provider KPI performance
  • Analyze opportunities related to delivery-on-time performance, rate reviews, and transit damage
  • Investigate new technology and opportunities with providers
  • Project, report, and manage domestic logistics expenses
  • Track and report domestic logistics savings
  • Analyze and recommend business opportunities to improve delivery frequency, service, and costs

Requirements

  • Proactive and adaptable to the needs of a growing retailer
  • Sound understanding of supply chain and logistics functions
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar retail role
  • Knowledge of NHVR and Chain of Responsibility Legislation
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interact and develop relationships with all levels of the organization
