About the Role

MICO Software develops and operates the infrastructure for an ePaper platform for leading German publishers. We deliver the entire cloud infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and scalability, from automated content processing to delivery via reader apps and web frontends. We are seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to further develop, operate, and secure our AWS infrastructure in close collaboration with our development team.

Responsibilities

Infrastructure as Code: Further development and maintenance of Terraform modules and multi-tenant stacks (VPC, ECS Fargate, Aurora PostgreSQL, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, IAM, AWS Backup)
Operations & Reliability: Monitoring, alerting, incident response, and maintenance of operational runbooks (Backup/Restore, Secret Rotation, Aurora Cutover)
CI/CD: Expansion of GitHub Actions pipelines (OIDC authentication, ECR deploys, Terraform Plan/Apply, DB migrations)
Multi-Tenant Operations: Onboarding new publisher tenants, isolation, and scaling of tenant stacks
Security: IAM Least Privilege, KMS, WAF, Secrets Manager, TLS/DNS configuration including customer domain onboarding
Event-driven Pipelines: Operation of the ETL chain (S3 → SQS → ECS) for PDF processing and preview generation
Collaboration: Close coordination with application development (Payload CMS, Node.js/Lambda services, reader apps)

Requirements

5+ years of professional experience in Cloud/DevOps, with substantial experience in AWS
Very good knowledge of Terraform (modularization, remote state, multi-environment setups)
Experience with container orchestration (ECS/Fargate or comparable) and Docker
Proficient in CI/CD (GitHub Actions or comparable tools)
Knowledge of networking and security on AWS (VPC, Security Groups, IAM, ACM, WAF)
Experience with relational databases in a cloud context (RDS/Aurora)
German language skills at least B2 level for coordination with customers and within the team
Good English skills for technical documentation
Independent, structured way of working and enjoyment of operational responsibility in a small, effective team
