About the Role

We are seeking our first Manufacturing Test Lead to own the Manufacturing Test discipline across the full Dive-XL build stack, including PCBA bring-up, bottle bring-up, system check-out, and vehicle Factory Acceptance Test (FAT). This role also involves managing the supporting test infrastructure and acting as the Anduril Australia counterpart to the US Manufacturing Test team, driving convergence on a shared framework.

Responsibilities

  • Define the AU Mfg Test discipline end-to-end across PCBA, bottle, and vehicle stages, setting standards for testing, acceptance criteria, and methodology.
  • Own the test ecosystem, including PCBA test rigs, sub-systems bring-up stations, system check-out benches, vehicle FAT test base, and end-of-line testers, making decisions on build vs. buy and US plant convergence.
  • Drive the transition from initial one-off versions to a common, config-managed framework utilizing a NixOS-based toolchain, GUI-first execution, a curated error-code library, and version-controlled procedures.
  • Lead and grow a Manufacturing Test team.
  • Serve as the test-as-acceptance interface with Quality, managing IQ/OQ/PQ on test rigs, gauge R&R, FAT acceptance authority, and NCR/CAPA processes for test-related failures.
  • Partner with US sites to co-own framework convergence and ensure equivalent capability across locations.
  • Provide Design-for-Test influence during design reviews, identifying missing test points or instrumentation challenges.
  • Manage line-down response by diagnosing, leading fixes, documenting, and preventing recurrence of test stage failures that halt production.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, Mechatronic, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong electrical and systems fundamentals, including instrumentation, signal integrity basics, power systems, sensors, actuators, harnessing, and PCBA-level debug.
  • A test-discipline owner's mindset with prior experience establishing or significantly rebuilding a Manufacturing Test capability.
  • Strategic thinking in test strategy, understanding the placement and rationale for different test types within the build stack.
  • Hands-on experience across the full lifecycle: PCBA bring-up, board-level functional test, sub-assembly check-out, and system-level FAT.
  • Proficiency in ICT, FCT, custom rigs, environmental, and RF testing, with the ability to select appropriate tools.
  • Independent debug skills in Linux-based test environments, including log parsing, build flashing, and failure isolation without immediate escalation.
  • Ability to validate testers and their results without a 'golden unit' reference.
  • Software fluency for test automation, with strong Python skills and comfort in at least one of LabVIEW, TestStand, C/C++, or equivalent test-software stacks.
  • Ability to read and understand test framework architecture.
  • Day-to-day comfort with interfaces such as USB, Ethernet, RS232/RS485, CAN, I2C, and SPI, and their associated test instrumentation.
  • Comfort with high project ownership in environments with limited scope and definition, making independent decisions and prioritizing team safety.
  • Experience hiring, mentoring, and leading test engineers, or readiness to do so.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 Security Clearance (Australian citizen).
