About the Role
As a Test Systems Engineer, you will own the technical backbone of Manufacturing Test for Dive-XL, including frameworks, GUIs, automation, and tester integrations. This role involves hardware-meets-software work on the production floor to enable rapid testing of cutting-edge defense hardware for undersea and flight vehicles.
Responsibilities
- Design and build a production utility suite of tools, from requirements through architecture, GUI development, and deployment.
- Architect the test framework, including test runners, instrumentation drivers, data logging, traceability hooks, error-code library, and configuration management.
- Standardize the toolchain using a NixOS-based, declarative, reproducible system, moving development environments to a single config-managed target.
- Implement CI/CD for test code, managing pipelines, reviews, and version control.
- Integrate with Anduril's factory systems, including MES, Oracle ERP, and Teamcenter PLM, to ensure test results are traced and acted upon.
- Develop technician-facing GUIs that lower the entry-skill bar, featuring curated, version-controlled tests, clear pass/fail indicators, and helpful error codes.
- Converge codebase with other Anduril production sites, working with the US team to integrate AU and US Manufacturing Test stacks.
- Provide floor support, debugging test failures and resolving unexpected GUI errors that halt production.
Requirements
- Engineering degree in Software, Computer, Electrical, Mechatronic, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to read schematics and reason about test code's function.
- Strong software fluency for test automation, with experience building, maintaining, and debugging test frameworks in Python.
- Proficiency in Linux and command-line environments, including system-level configuration, process management, and network debugging.
- Fluency in hardware-software interface development, including software driving test instruments and hardware through interfaces like USB, Ethernet, RS232/RS485, CAN, I2C, SPI, GPIB.
- Hands-on electronics troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, multimeters, or logic analyzers.
- GUI development experience for user-facing test consoles or operator interfaces.
- Software engineering discipline, including version control, testing of test code, reproducibility, configuration management, and rollback strategies.
- A bias for action and ownership, with a proactive approach to fixing fragmented toolchains.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government NV2 Security Clearance (Australian citizen).
