About the Role
Clifford Chance is seeking a highly organised and commercially minded Property Paralegal or Licensed Conveyancer to support their Real Estate practice in Sydney. This role will focus on end-to-end matter support across a range of property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leasing, and development matters. The role offers the opportunity to work closely with partners and lawyers on high-quality transactions, while also taking ownership of discrete conveyancing files (where appropriately qualified). The role requires a self-starter with a positive attitude and a strong willingness to learn, offering the opportunity to become the local expert and a trusted advisor within the Australian business.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, review and management of property transaction documents, including contracts for sale and purchase, leases and licences, disclosure documents, and ancillary transaction documents.
- Conduct and analyse title, planning, and statutory searches.
- Conduct and analyse ASIC, insolvency, and litigation searches.
- Coordinate with land registry services to lodge/attend to requisitions of lodged documents.
- Coordinate with stamping providers to arrange for stamping of documents.
- Support due diligence processes for property portfolios and large-scale transactions.
- Assist with transaction coordination, including managing critical dates and conditions precedent.
- Manage end-to-end commercial conveyancing files, including contract preparation and review, client and counterparty liaison, electronic settlements (PEXA and PEXA Projects), and settlement adjustments and completion statements.
- Ensure compliance with NSW property law and regulatory requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for clients, agents, and external stakeholders.
- Liaise with banks, brokers, land registry services, third party providers, and government authorities.
- Maintain high standards of client service and responsiveness.
- Maintain accurate file records and document management.
- Track key milestones and ensure timely progression of matters.
- Assist with billing processes and matter management.
- Support continuous improvement of property processes, templates, and systems.
Requirements
- Experience in a property law environment (law firm or in-house).
- Strong knowledge of conveyancing processes in NSW.
- Strong working knowledge of PEXA, PEXA Projects, and electronic settlements.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines.
- Commercial awareness and practical problem solving.
- Strong stakeholder management and client service orientation.
- Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
- Sound judgement and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
