About the Role
The candidate will be responsible for production management for HSBC’s FX electronic trading systems, primarily supporting the New York online day. This role will also be part of Regional and Global Teams providing follow-the-sun operational support to Europe and Asia under a DevOps IT service delivery model. The focus is on providing business-facing support to the FX Trading, Sales, Quants and Middle Office desks based in New York, with a need for weekend and holiday support on a rota basis. The Bank’s primary FX trading platforms are built in-house.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all production incidents, service requests and problems are logged and resolved in the bank’s systems.
- Help maintain an information repository of application support material.
- Perform weekend application upgrades, configuration and patching across multiple environments.
- Maintain regular communication with the client base to provide status updates and document all activities.
- Work in a rotation to provide Sunday afternoon health checks and support for the FX market open in Asia.
- Proactively monitor system health using the monitoring tool Geneos or automated alerts, escalating to the development team or vendor if needed.
- Respond to user queries from client services, sales, traders or quants trading.
- Perform DevOps tasks such as service migration and monitor setup.
- Perform housekeeping for server disk issues and review automated solutions.
Requirements
- Experience in application support in the financial markets.
- Script and program knowledge to assist in troubleshooting (Unix scripting / JAVA / Python).
- Willingness to take ownership of problem resolution and additional responsibilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact and work well with traders, back-office personnel, vendors, the futures business and other IT teams.
- Customer-facing skills to engage with demanding front office users.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers.
- Process excellence, including effective organization and process disciplines.
- Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure, individually and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of networking and TCP/IP family protocols.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues: Network, Disk space, High CPU.
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.
