Responsibilities
- Design technical approach to understand agent misuse for biological harm
- Measure where current safety guardrails fall short
- Lead a team of research engineers and biologists
- Build datasets to understand agent capabilities in dual-use areas
- Focus on protocol design, protocol troubleshooting, DBTL loops, genome/protein design, biological design tools, and understanding viruses, bacteria, or toxins
Requirements
- 5+ years hands-on experience with synthetic biology, virology, microbiology, or bioengineering
- Experience in cloning and genome editing
- Reverse genetics is a plus
- Comfortable coding
- Running bioinformatics analyses in area of expertise
- Using biological design tools
