About the Role
As the Estimator, you will assist in the preparation and review of various estimate types, including lump sum, unit rate, and cost plus estimates, as well as conceptual cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, pipeline conveyance, heavy civil and structural projects, dams and hydro facilities, tunnel construction, and waterway and marine construction.
Responsibilities
- Review project design scopes and develop quantities from documentation and 3D models.
- Assess missing scope items for a complete estimate package.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and takeoff calculations for labor, material, and equipment cost categories.
- Prepare complete and accurate detailed cost estimates for assigned scopes of work.
- Align cost estimates with assigned work breakdown structures.
- Coordinate with estimating and design teams for scope alignment.
- Assess labor productivities, construction equipment, and support equipment required for the scope of work.
- Assist with comparison reports to evaluate cost and scope increases between design stages.
- Support the preparation of Basis of Estimate documentation with the Lead Estimator.
- Support the updating and maintenance of historical cost data, quotes, and benchmarking of costs by construction type.
- Support the preparation of indirect costs, contingency, escalation, and reviews of the cost estimate.
- Review designs and specifications for cost effectiveness and suggest alternatives.
Requirements
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience is required.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.
