About the Role
The Director, Digital Production is responsible for operational leadership, production management, and post-production strategy for A+E's Digital Content organization. This role oversees the production of original short-form digital content and leads post-production operations, finishing, delivery, and technical production workflows.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational leadership and strategic oversight for Digital Production and Brand Studio Post, ensuring content is properly planned, produced, finished, and delivered across platforms.
- Lead and performance-manage Production Managers, Asset Manager, Coordinators, and post-production teams, ensuring strong ownership, prioritization, accountability, and talent development across teams.
- Oversee post-production operations, finishing, delivery, asset management, and quality control standards, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and scalability across workflows.
- Serve as the primary production and post-production partner to Creative, Digital Content, Editorial, Production Operations, Technology, and senior leadership, aligning production capabilities with business and content priorities.
- Drive workflow optimization, technical innovation, and adoption of new production technologies, AI-enabled tools, and operational solutions to improve efficiency, collaboration, and scalability.
- Oversee resource planning and production capacity across Digital Production and Brand Studio Post functions.
- Champion process improvement, operational consistency, and cross-functional collaboration to improve visibility, efficiency, and predictability across the organization.
Requirements
- Experience working with content requiring elevated legal, standards, or reputational oversight.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing production and post-production teams through clear expectations, accountability, and effective talent management.
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience partnering with senior leadership, creative teams, editorial teams, and technical partners.
- Demonstrated expertise in production operations, post-production workflows, resource planning, budget management, and operational risk mitigation.
- Deep understanding of digital content production, video finishing, asset management, quality control, and multi-platform delivery requirements.
- Ability to oversee high-volume production environments while balancing competing priorities, deadlines, and business objectives.
- Experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing production technologies, workflow solutions, and emerging tools—including AI-enabled workflows—to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Strong understanding of video codecs, file formats, metadata, media asset management systems, and distribution workflows across digital, social, FAST, and streaming platforms.
- Experience building and implementing scalable operational processes, delivery standards, and workflow frameworks across cross-functional teams.
- Strong working knowledge of Airtable, media asset management systems, project management tools, and post-production software ecosystems.
- Proven ability to identify operational gaps, recommend technical solutions, and drive continuous improvement across production and post-production functions.
- Solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to anticipate challenges, navigate ambiguity, and address issues proactively rather than reactively.
- Ability to translate creative and business objectives into effective production strategies, operational plans, and scalable execution models.
