About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms.
  • Record patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Obtain necessary patient records prior to treatment or procedures.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies.
  • Assist physicians with exams and procedures.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections as delegated.
  • Maintain disinfection protocols for exam/treatment rooms.
  • Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physician or nurse/pharmacist.
  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed.
  • Inform physician of patient reschedules and no-shows.
  • Perform administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception.
  • Enter orders under provider direction and supervision.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire (Level 1).
  • Minimum three years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant (Level 2).
  • Phlebotomy experience preferred (Level 2).
  • Minimum five years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant in a hospital or clinic setting (Level Sr).
  • Current CPR certification required (Level Sr).
  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
