About the Role
Vanda Pharmaceuticals is seeking a Neuroscience Account Manager to join an innovative and dynamic sales organization. The primary responsibility is to exceed established goals by delivering real value to customers through differentiated products and services.
Responsibilities
- Execute and promote products in alignment with sales strategy in the assigned territory.
- Collaborate with the District Sales Manager on day-to-day sales and strategy direction.
- Analyze local market, develop, execute, and monitor performance to maximize product use.
- Maintain high and current knowledge of product, disease, competition, and market reimbursement.
- Determine, implement, and monitor optimal resource allocation within the territory.
- Communicate relevant information persuasively to target audiences using advanced selling and negotiation skills.
- Identify, build, and leverage advocacy channels.
- Secure product access and reimbursement within institutional systems.
- Manage travel and promotional budget.
- Fulfill monitoring and reporting requirements, including expenses and call reporting.
- Maintain full compliance with all laws, regulations, and Vanda Policies.
- Meet and comply with credentialing requirements of healthcare providers, customer facilities, and governments.
- Undertake additional, ad-hoc projects as needed.
Requirements
- BS or BA with GPA greater than 3.0.
- Minimum 3 years of pharmaceutical sales experience preferred.
- Atypical anti-psychotic experience and/or orphan drug experience preferred.
- Specialty experience in psychiatry, bipolar, depression, CNS or pain management preferred.
- Reimbursement experience preferred.
- Existing relationships with psychiatrists and/or Community Mental Health Centers in the assigned territory preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving history.
- Self-starter, goal and results-driven with a proven track record of above-average results.
- Fortitude to sell and compete with a 'hunter' mentality.
- Strong relationships and knowledge of the territory preferred.
- Ability to travel (may include overnights).
- Out-of-territory travel to HQs, training, and sales meetings may be required.
- Work hours may include meetings scheduled outside of normal working hours.
- Must reside within territory geography.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
