Responsibilities

  • Manage projects by leading all crews and subcontractors to ensure safe, timely, and budget-compliant completion.
  • Oversee job safety according to the safety manual and ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
  • Prevent utility strikes by ensuring test holes are dug and marked appropriately.
  • Report any site damage or incidents to the Project Manager.
  • Maintain jobsite cleanliness and ensure adherence to all mandated safety protocols, including AHA's and Tool Box Talks.
  • Submit accurate daily timesheets and equipment logs by 9 AM the following day.
  • Assist the Estimating department in developing estimates for future work.
  • Coordinate all work with subcontractors and utility providers.
  • Schedule labor and equipment daily by 1:00 PM for the following day with the Project Manager and Dispatcher.
  • Submit rolling two-week look-ahead schedules, updated weekly, to the Division Manager and General Superintendent.
  • Determine material needs for upcoming operations and complete take-offs for orders.
  • Plan upcoming project operations using techniques like site plan reviews for productivity tracking and 4-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Review the Estimate Cost Report to determine required manpower and productivity per operation.
  • Meet regularly with the Project Manager and/or Project Engineer to review and coordinate upcoming work and needs.
  • Supervise and ensure all tasks are carried out effectively by labor forces.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in Civil, Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience.
  • Prefer at least 3 years of experience as a superintendent on a contract valued at $10M+.
  • Experience supporting excavation and piles or sewer or waste plants; or in Heavy Construction (site-work, roads or environmental).
  • Strong knowledge of bridge construction methods, structural repair techniques, falsework, formwork, concrete work, and steel retrofits.
  • Familiarity with TXDOT specifications and standards.
  • Must be capable of meeting deadlines.
  • Must be self-motivated and detail-oriented.
  • Must possess above-average interpersonal skills and excellent follow-through capability.
  • Verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to accurately process written documents.
  • Ability to perform duties in a timely manner.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with company, clients, and field personnel at all levels.
