About the Role
This position supports the coordination, development, and delivery of high-quality financial skills training. A key component of the role is translating complex financial concepts into plain-language, engaging, and accessible learning materials for diverse audiences. The Workshop Facilitator assists in developing training curricula, workshop content, and practical resource materials, and facilitates workshops and onboarding sessions.
Responsibilities
- Support the coordination, development, and delivery of in-person and virtual Financial Empowerment training.
- Assist in developing self-serve learning materials, facilitator guides, and training recordings.
- Ensure training materials and presentations translate financial concepts into clear, practical, and plain-language information.
- Conduct independent literature scans and research to ensure training content remains accurate and current.
- Collaborate with staff, management, volunteers, and community partners to identify training needs and service trends.
- Assist in developing new training content and educational resources in response to emerging community needs.
- Review, update, and refresh existing training materials and workshop content.
- Maintain and organize the online repository of training resources.
- Deliver onboarding and training sessions for new staff, volunteers, students, and community members.
- Facilitate workshops as required.
- Support the orientation, training, scheduling and coordination of volunteers who assist with Financial Empowerment workshop delivery.
- Create and administer client and participant feedback and evaluation tools.
- Review evaluation findings and frontline feedback to support ongoing improvements to training materials and workshops.
- Liaise with external organizations to obtain updated information and relevant training resources.
- Develop promotional and outreach materials to increase awareness of training opportunities.
- Conduct community outreach with key stakeholders to build/maintain partnerships.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for workshop coordination and communication.
- Present workshop requests to Financial Empowerment leadership.
- Monitor and coordinate workshop scheduling.
- Coordinate and support accessibility accommodations for training sessions.
- Provide logistical support for virtual and in-person training sessions.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information related to the organization, units, programs, staff, and clients.
- Participate in regular supervisory sessions, staff and unit meetings.
- Carry out additional duties as identified by the Operations Manager.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in Adult Education, Community Development, Social Work, Human Resources or a related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in training coordination or facilitation in a non-profit or community-based setting.
- Strong group facilitation skills and familiarity with adult learning principles.
- Demonstrated understanding of the systemic barriers experienced by low-income and other vulnerable populations.
- Strong understanding of trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and client-centered approaches to adult learning and community service delivery.
- Proficiency using digital tools (Zoom, MS Teams, Google Workspace) and learning platforms.
- Strong graphic design and presentation development skills using tools such as Canva and PowerPoint.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment with changing priorities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with subject matter experts and translate complex information into practical, user-friendly training content.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Considerable knowledge and/or experience working with barriered populations.
- Experience developing and delivering curriculum for job seekers in a social services environment.
- Fluency in a language other than English.
- Familiarity with community-based financial empowerment programming and service delivery.
- Experience supporting multilingual or accessibility-informed training environments.
