About the Role

Join the Mobile BFF team within Procore's Mobile division as a Staff Software Engineer. You will use your technical leadership and engineering skills to develop products that impact global construction projects. This role focuses on owning the GraphQL Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) services that power native iOS and Android experiences, translating customer needs into fast, reliable mobile solutions.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical lead for the Mobile BFF team, setting engineering direction and owning architecture.
• Translate customer needs into scalable GraphQL BFF services.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of owned services.
• Drive sound technical decisions and de-risk complex work.
• Collaborate with backend feature teams and the broader Mobile organization.
• Establish and champion high-quality development standards for maintainability, reliability, and scalability.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and pairing.
• Optimize application performance and resilience.
• Drive the resolution of technical debt and systemic risks.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering fundamentals.
• Strong system design skills.
• Deep proficiency in backend development with Ruby on Rails, Node.js, or Java.
• Hands-on GraphQL or other BFF/API-layer experience is a strong plus.
• Proven technical leadership with a track record of influencing technical direction.
• Experience with large-scale systems, managing platforms and infrastructure for thousands of hosts and millions of users.
• Experience building and maintaining modern CI/CD systems in a large-scale environment.
• Ability to balance immediate business needs with strategic, long-term technical investments.
• Ability to effectively communicate architectural trade-offs.
• Strong collaborative and communication skills.
• Experience working closely with mobile teams or hands-on iOS/Android development experience is a strong plus.
