About the Role

The Assistant Superintendent plans and manages construction sites to ensure work meets safety, quality, and contractual standards. They provide daily oversight of company and subcontractor personnel, utilizing knowledge of building methods, materials, and sequencing. This role may focus on a specific scope within a large project or lead smaller engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate drawings and specifications to ensure the project meets contractual obligations.
  • Create, maintain, and execute the Linbeck Site Specific Safety Program.
  • Create and maintain the Crisis Management Plan.
  • Manage Labor Production and other Daily Reports.
  • Create, maintain, and execute the Site Utilization, Logistics, and Phasing Plans.
  • Establish, communicate, and implement the schedule for assigned area of responsibility.
  • Monitor and update schedules for progress.
  • Set priorities, pre-plan activities, and communicate expectations with field employees and/or subcontractors.
  • Supervise craft field employees or subcontractors to achieve schedule, profit, productivity, quality, and safety objectives using Lean Operating Systems.
  • Perform field engineering functions when needed.
  • Analyze construction problems and develop practical alternative solutions.

Requirements

  • Must be physically fit enough to function safely on a project site and office setting.
  • Current driver’s license required.
  • Work on-site at a main office or project location required.
  • May be called after hours and on weekends to address delays, emergencies, bad weather, and other issues at the jobsite.
  • May require travel.

Skills

  • Knowledge of building methods, materials, and sequencing
  • Ability to monitor and update schedules for progress
  • Ability to set priorities, pre-plan activities, and communicate expectations
  • Ability to supervise craft field employees or subcontractors
  • Proficiency in Lean Operating Systems
  • Ability to perform field engineering functions
  • Ability to analyze construction problems and develop practical alternative solutions
  • Good depth perception
  • Good field of vision
  • Good near acuity
  • Ability to speak English

Work Type

Experience Level

  • 3 or more years of construction project work experience with a high school diploma or GED, including a minimum of 2 years as a field supervisor

Education Level

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business and the successful completion of one or more internship assignments, each lasting 3 or more months
  • High school diploma or GED
