About the Role

Solicits 1-4 family residential mortgage applications from home buyers, realtors, and community groups to support community development initiatives for low- and moderate-income communities and families in Brooklyn and Staten Island.

Responsibilities

  • Represents Columbia Bank in originating CRA eligible mortgage loans, focusing on Brooklyn and Staten Island.
  • Increases residential mortgage loan volume, primarily focusing on CRA, low income, and moderate income communities, assisting customers through the application process to closing.
  • Provides personalized service and support to community groups, counseling agencies, and customers to meet community needs and attain Bank's CRA goals.
  • Prepares and presents first-time home-buyer seminars and home ownership classes to realtors, communities, and home buying counseling agencies.
  • Participates in functions pertinent to mortgage lending, real estate, and community affairs.
  • Establishes, participates in, and develops relationships with community-based charitable and nonprofit organizations.
  • Assists in the cross-selling of the Bank’s other products and services.
  • Advises Senior Management of emerging CRA issues to ensure objectives are maintained.
  • Keeps informed of trends and developments in the local real estate market.
  • Maintains an up-to-date awareness of all changes in federal and state regulations governing residential first mortgage lending.
  • Performs other job-related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in residential mortgage sales preferred.
  • Five plus years of CRA mortgage sales experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of lending regulations required.
  • Knowledgeable of methods and procedures for promoting and marketing products and services.
  • Established relationships with local referral networks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deal effectively with customers, attorneys, realtors, other financial institutions, and all levels of Bank personnel.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, follow-up, and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills and experience utilizing laptop technology.
  • Successful candidate must meet and comply with all requirements set forth in the SAFE Act, including successful completion of required background checks and obtaining a Unique Identifier from the NMLS.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
