Responsibilities
- Serve as a liaison between patients, nurses, surgeons, and facility staff.
- Assist in sterilization, operating room circulating, and the Post Anesthesia Care Unit.
- Apply sanitary, infection control, and safety standards in preparing and sanitizing surgical instruments.
- Handle instruments accurately and safely according to the sterilization process.
- Ensure medical equipment is functioning properly and escalate issues as needed.
- Prepare supplies and instruments for sterilization, including peel-packing and wrapping.
- Document and maintain accurate sterilization records.
- Perform simple maintenance on equipment.
- Prepare trays for designated areas according to policies and procedures.
- Document and maintain an inventory of supplies and materials.
- Prepare surgery suites by gathering, organizing, and preparing surgical supplies and equipment.
- Monitor inventory of surgical supplies and equipment and notify appropriate individuals when supplies are needed.
- Operate medical equipment and perform technical skills according to policies and standards of care.
- Restock surgery suites with appropriate supplies.
- Collaborate with the surgical and clinical team on patient progress and care.
- Maintain operating rooms in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
- Follow established HIPAA policies and procedures.
- Bring patients into the examination room for follow-up visits.
- Take and record patient vital signs and obtain urine samples.
- Clean examination rooms and execute room turnover.
- Work with surgeons, massage therapists, and nurses to ensure efficient workflow.
- Communicate post-procedure healing instructions to patients.
- Record appropriate patient information on patient charts and/or Salesforce.
- Report problems or unusual circumstances to the Clinical Administrator and Surgeon.
- Follow procedures for post-surgical and procedural processes.
- Provide excellent customer service, meeting clients' unique needs.
- Display professionalism, empathy, and energy with patients.
- Provide basic direct patient care as delegated by a Registered Nurse.
- Monitor vital signs and report patient behavior and well-being to PACU Registered Nurses.
- Prepare patient recovery rooms with necessary items.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma required.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
