About the Role

Machine Operator 1 is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production line equipment, ensuring all products meet established quality and food safety standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining a clean, compliant, and productive manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Set up equipment for product runs and changeovers, including working with maintenance as required.
  • Monitor and manage production activities to meet daily and weekly production plans.
  • Perform corrective machine adjustments to maintain optimal performance.
  • Maintain shift log of production and other data on Efficiency & Quality Application and ERP Application.
  • Accurate and timely reporting and completion of Quality related documentation, issues or concerns.
  • Assist in training as required to ensure proper production SOPs, GMPs, equipment and Health and Safety Standards are met.
  • Carry out timely and effective line handover between shifts, including the completion of proper documentation and accurate briefing on progress/issues.
  • Ensure proper maintenance, sanitation and Health and Safety protocols are always followed by all team members.
  • All other work assigned by duly authorized Supervisor or Team Leader.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of Machine Operator experience or equivalent required.
  • Electric Pallet Truck license is a definite asset.
  • Able to perform duties in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to multi-task, prioritize and solve problems.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions related to duties.
  • Able to provide verbal and written instructions to others.
  • Operate machinery to process and bag, box or otherwise package food products.
  • All jobs require sufficient physical strength and dexterity to perform the required task(s) and typically also require at a minimum: intermittent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more with assistance may also be required.
  • Employees must be willing and able to wear personal protective equipment as required by Company policy and/or legal requirements.
  • Work outside and/or in adverse temperatures which could include extreme heat, cold, and humidity.
  • Be exposed to vibrations, chemicals used in operations, fumes and food allergens (may include soy, dairy and other allergens).
  • Be required to work in confined and dark spaces, and at heights in excess of 18 feet.

Skills

  • Properly store, mix, and use cleaning chemicals in compliance with SOPs, HACCP, WHMIS, and safety procedures.
  • Interact with customers during trials, audits and visits to provide information and answer production related questions.
  • Good knowledge of GMPs, SOPs, Health & Safety procedures, including OHSA & WHMIS.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and production reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
