This role ensures accuracy, minimizes discrepancies, and facilitates a smooth handoff from design to production, ultimately reducing rework and improving efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the release of approved drawings and documentation to the shop floor, tracking revisions and version control.
  • Flag design or drawing issues that could affect manufacturability, cost, or schedule, and route them back to drafting for correction.
  • Attend production meetings to communicate upcoming releases and address drawing-related questions.
  • Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions, approvals, and release history.
  • Support drafters in understanding shop floor constraints and feedback.
  • Work with quality and production teams to investigate and resolve issues related to drawing errors or misinterpretation.
  • Identify recurring communication gaps between drafting and manufacturing and recommend process improvements.

  • Ability to explain complex technical drawings in plain language understandable to the shop floor.
  • Clear and direct communication skills, comfortable interacting with drafters, engineers, and production staff.
