About the Role
The Part-Time Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for clients, donors, and guests, greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and directing them appropriately. This role is crucial for supporting daily administrative operations, assisting staff, and ensuring smooth communication throughout the Agency.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and visitors in a warm, professional manner and direct them to the appropriate staff member.
- Answer and route incoming calls and respond to general inquiries.
- Maintain the reception area and ensure it is tidy, organized, and providing a warm and welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Support basic administrative tasks as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Manage difficult and/or emotional client situations and respond promptly to client needs.
- Ensure that all services are maintained in accordance with the Agency’s mission and goals.
- Serve as a liaison and build positive working relationships with community members and partnering agencies.
- Adhere to all Vera House policies, procedures and safety protocols.
- Additional duties, as assigned.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in reception, office administration, or customer service (non-profit experience a plus).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and general office equipment.
- Friendly, reliable, punctual and professional demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and maintain composure in a busy environment.
- Aptitude to maintain a positive, compassionate rapport with victims of domestic violence, sexual assault or other violent trauma.
- Prompt response to crisis as well as thorough and consistent follow up with victims and delivery systems.
- Ability to meet the requirements for light physical activity such as lifting small packages and sitting/standing for extended periods of time.
