About the Role

This role involves building high-quality, innovative, and fully performing software that complies with coding standards and technical design. You will be responsible for working on projects currently under development, including developing and directing software system validation and testing methods, and leading software programming initiatives. Collaboration with clients and cross-functional departments to communicate project statuses and proposals is key.

Responsibilities

  • Define system functionality and write code in various languages, like Java, React, Ruby on Rails or .NET programming languages (e.g. C++ or JScript.NET.).
  • Be familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment.
  • Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals.
  • Influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Work to achieve day-to-day objectives with major impact on operational results within work area.
  • Manage small projects or processes within area of responsibility.
  • Provide input or guidance to lower-level professionals with tasks and assignments.
  • Make moderate improvements of processes, systems or products to enhance performance of work area.
  • Communicate with parties within and outside of own department.
  • Communicate with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.).
  • Influence parties within and outside of work area at an operational level regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Perform impactful and meaningful code reviews.
  • Effectively use build automation tools such as Jenkins, Azure Dev Ops.
  • Effectively use cloud services or industry standard frameworks.
  • Pick up new tools and incorporate them effectively into applications.
  • Work within Agile framework.
  • Write automated tests for their work.
  • Participate in hiring process and interviews.
  • Follow established engineering processes and standards effectively within their scope of work and domain.
  • Deliver quality work on time with minimal supervision.
  • Take ownership and work autonomously on development tasks, delivering code on time and with a quality mindset.
  • Refactor and abstract common problems into reusable components or services.
  • Detect meaningful problems in requirements.
  • Seek understanding of cross-functional discipline work such as understanding of how users interact with product, how timeline affects scope and quality.

  • Effectively manage the scope of their individual tasks.

  • Respond to emergency situations to meet customers’ needs as part of the role, including Emergency Restoration assignments outside of normal responsibilities, work hours, and location.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of work area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience.
  • May have practical knowledge of project management.
  • Practical to substantial knowledge of company projects, programs, or systems with the ability to make enhancements and leverage in daily work.
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
