About the Role
Monitor broadcast signal quality, commercial insertion triggers, and viewership data distribution. Operate and troubleshoot signal encoders, routing systems, satellite receivers, and recording systems to ensure accurate transmission.
Responsibilities
- Monitor signal quality for outgoing and incoming signals.
- Ensure local commercial insertion triggers are functioning correctly.
- Verify Nielsen SID distribution for accurate viewership crediting.
- Log into and check the status of over seventy-five signal encoders, including alarms, bandwidth, temperature, and filter status.
- Troubleshoot issues with signal encoders.
- Perform system checks on routing systems (mirror and disaster recovery).
- Check satellite receivers for signal quality margin levels.
- Confirm Mediaproxy system is recording all channels.
- Verify encrypted messages are transmitting as intended.
- Review Crystal Monitoring & Control for proper transmission paths.
- Schedule downlink requests.
- Program and operate live blackouts and service replacements.
- Monitor Affiliate Hotline for engineering calls and troubleshoot issues.
- Walk the Encoding Hub each shift to check encoder alarm status.
- Make high-leverage decisions without supervisor support.
- Assist in training newer operators.
Requirements
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in Transmission or a related discipline.
- Strong customer service, communication, and troubleshooting skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple concurrent issues under high-pressure situations with accuracy.
- Ability to work closely with peers and operations and engineering teams.
- Ability to function in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
