About the Role
The Standard is seeking a senior AI Software Engineer to design, build, and deploy full-stack features for web-based AI products. This role involves end-to-end problem solving, from data modeling and API development to user interface design, while ensuring reliable production systems through DevOps and cloud infrastructure integration.
Responsibilities
- Design and build full-stack features from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operation.
- Develop responsive, accessible user interfaces and backend services.
- Lead technical design for medium-to-large projects and delegate actionable tasks.
- Write well-tested, maintainable code and conduct thorough code reviews.
- Improve system performance, reliability, scalability, and operability.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to team technical growth.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to scope and deliver solutions.
- Participate in on-call rotations and promote operational excellence.
- Partner with Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers to optimize model accessibility and safety.
- Support integrations with Azure Databricks, DevOps tooling, and data platform services.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience in production web applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- Strong proficiency in a modern frontend framework (preferably Angular) and a backend language (e.g., Node.js or Python).
- Experience implementing Python API design patterns using FastAPI or Flask.
- Experience designing APIs and working with relational, non-relational, and graph databases (e.g., Neo4j).
- Experience configuring Azure Application Gateway and API management solutions (e.g., Azure API Management or Kong Konnect).
- Hands-on experience optimizing API applications for sub-second performance.
- Experience load testing REST APIs with tools like Apache JMeter or SOAPUI.
- Experience with package management (e.g., Poetry) and functional testing (e.g., Pytest, PyLint).
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices, preferably using Azure and Terraform.
- Knowledge of data engineering concepts including Databricks and MLflow.
- Experience with cloud WAF configuration and API security policies (OAuth2/OIDC, JWT).
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and Git-based release workflows (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD).
- Ability to work in an Agile/DevOps methodology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for asynchronous collaboration.
