About the Role

This role is responsible for ensuring the firm's compliance with health, safety, and environmental legislation. Key responsibilities include policy development, risk assessments, incident management, business continuity planning, compliance training, and supplier compliance oversight. The role also involves managing the Workplace Operations environmental and sustainability team member and ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, 45001, and 50001 standards.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for compliance and workplace risk-related matters.
  • Oversee all aspects of Workplace Operations compliance, ensuring adherence to statutory, contractual, and environmental requirements.
  • Develop and approve Health and Safety policies, fostering a strong health and safety culture across the firm.
  • Ensure compliance across all Health and Safety areas.
  • Ensure trained first aiders and fire marshals are in place.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the Workplace Operations sustainability strategy.
  • Provide line management to the Workplace Compliance team.
  • Ensure legal and regulatory compliance, including the completion of comprehensive risk assessments and the implementation of effective mitigation strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal policies, procedures, and controls to manage workplace risks.
  • Oversee business continuity planning, including regular testing and ensuring robust incident response protocols are in place.
  • Define incident types, maintain incident logging systems, investigate and follow up on incidents, generate regular reports, and deliver relevant training.
  • Develop and deliver compliance training on incident reporting, risk awareness, business continuity roles, and other key compliance topics in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and drive enhancements to compliance programmes and overall effectiveness.
  • Oversee independent monitoring and performance audits of service partners, contractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with ISO certification and other relevant standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to work effectively and co-operatively with senior stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain relationships as well as influence all members of the Firm.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with specialist suppliers, clients, and internal stakeholders.
  • Skilled in strategic supplier selection and contract management.
  • Proven ability to analyse performance and compliance data generating actionable insight that improve user experience.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining sound judgment and professionalism.
  • Flexible and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commercially minded with strong organisational and interpersonal skills.
  • Act as the subject matter expert across the firm.
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven experience of emergency planning and business continuity principles.
  • Experience in Environmental monitoring and reporting.
