About the Role

This position involves performing professional legal attorney work for the Public Guardian and Public Administrator in their roles as probate conservators, personal representatives of decedents’ estates, and trustees. The role may include supervising legal support staff.

Responsibilities

• Performs professional legal work in all phases of estate administration, including drafting legal pleadings, performing legal research, evaluating heirship claims, providing legal advice, and representing the Public Administrator in court.
• Manages legal matters involving probate conservatorships, including preparing legal pleadings, performing legal research, assessing familial relationships, and advising the Public Guardian on fiduciary duties.
• Represents the Public Administrator and Public Guardian in transaction matters, including negotiating and drafting professional service agreements, and purchasing/selling real estate.
• Prepares and files petitions, reports, and other legal pleadings for the Public Administrator and Public Guardian, managing a high-volume caseload.
• Supervises assigned legal support staff by delegating, reviewing, and monitoring work, and providing training and coaching.

Requirements

• Possession of a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing of the California State Bar.
