About the Role

The Membership Support Specialist provides operational and administrative support for the council's member recruitment efforts. This role is responsible for maintaining recruitment resources, ensuring data integrity, coordinating recruitment processes, and attending community recruitment events. The position partners with the Membership team to deliver effective recruitment initiatives and exceptional service to prospective members.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately document and maintain operational processes that support new member recruitment initiatives.
  • Maintain recruitment documentation, templates, and resource libraries.
  • Prepare materials and resources for meetings, trainings, and recruitment initiatives.
  • Ensure recruitment resources remain organized, accurate, and current.
  • Attend and support new member recruitment events at schools and community locations.
  • Welcome prospective girls and families and answer questions about Girl Scouts.
  • Represent Girl Scouts professionally at recruitment events and community outreach activities.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain recruitment event materials and supplies.
  • Support council-wide recruitment campaigns and special initiatives.
  • Review recruitment records to ensure information is complete and accurate.
  • Conduct routine audits of recruitment data using the council's customer relationship management (CRM) system.
  • Coordinate updates to recruitment records and identify recurring data quality issues.
  • Organize and maintain recruitment toolkits, forms, templates, and supporting documentation.
  • Update recruitment resources following process or policy changes.
  • Prepare materials for recruitment trainings and meetings.
  • Maintain and update onboarding resources for recruitment staff.

Requirements

  • One or more years of experience working for a membership-based, youth-based, nonprofit or other related organization.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including a natural curiosity and openness about other perspectives and an ability to be diplomatic and professional when interacting with a wide variety of people and sensitive situations.
  • Ability to work effectively cross-departmentally, cultivating a culture of collaboration, and demonstrating respect for cross-departmental processes, staffing, and expertise.
  • Effectively interact, work, and collaborate with people of various cultural backgrounds and promote an environment of inclusivity.
  • Ability to positively influence others and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to critically assess current processes and suggest improvements.
  • Strong written and oral communication, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • High-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook or similar productivity software.
  • Ability to make a commitment to the philosophy of Girl Scouting, both nationally and locally.
  • Capable of maintaining strict confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive information.
  • Yearly membership in GSUSA is required.
  • Maintains a valid TX driver’s license, an acceptable driving record, acceptable vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation to travel within Girls Scouts of Central Texas service area.
  • Satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
