About the Role

The purpose of this job is to perform a wide variety of electrical and mechanical engineering tasks including installation, fabrication, assembly, set-up, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of plant equipment, services, and facilities. This role also involves project management and training plant electrical staff, with a primary focus on maintaining and upgrading the plant’s packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and program PLCs, Robots, and HMIs using Rockwell/Allen Bradley and Schneider/Modicon software.
  • Update and modify plant documentation using AutoCAD Mechanical/Electrical.
  • Perform troubleshooting on energized equipment.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment such as multi-meters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, as well as carts, ladders, and lifts.
  • Calibrate sensors.
  • Design, build, and implement test equipment for production and engineering support.
  • Provide cross-training for other skills.
  • Utilize business skills including writing Appropriation Requests, collaborating with off-site engineering teams, time distribution, and preparing quotes and estimates.
  • Perform duties using office software.
  • Work independently and coordinate teams as needed.
  • Demonstrate innovativeness in problem-solving and train others in maintenance techniques for sensitive processes.
  • Write process documentation, prepare maintenance projects and layouts, and interface with customers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure quality, timeliness, and safe work methods and practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or another Engineering degree with appropriate proven technical training/experience.
  • Understanding of electrical theory and best practices.
  • Ability to handle effort equivalent to 16-50 lbs.
  • Ability to work overhead in tiring, awkward positions.
  • Perform bench work repairing instruments and motors.
  • Experience with machinery repair, including troubleshooting live circuitry.
  • Mechanical aptitude, design knowledge, and understanding of packaging equipment.
