About the Role
An Ophthalmic Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting ophthalmologists in providing eye care services to patients. They assist with both clinical and administrative tasks, contributing to the efficient operation of the practice.
Responsibilities
- Ability to perform specialized eye exam testing while streamlining patient flow.
- Perform diagnostic testing such as Visual Aids, OCT, and Corneal topography.
- Provide phone support for prescription refill requests as authorized by the physician.
- Educate patients on medication administration and pre- and post-operative instructions.
- Adhere to legal and regulatory requirements, including HIPPA guidelines, for patient confidentiality and privacy.
- Assist with opening and closing duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- One-year experience in a customer-facing position preferred.
- Medical-related experience preferred.
- Proficient in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Proficient in internet use.
