About the Role
The Ophthalmic Assistant supports ophthalmologists in delivering eye care services by managing clinical and administrative tasks to ensure efficient practice operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform specialized eye exam testing and streamline patient flow
- Conduct diagnostic testing including Visual Aids, OCT, and Corneal topography
- Provide phone support for prescription refill requests authorized by physicians
- Educate patients on medication administration and pre- and post-operative instructions
- Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
- Assist with daily opening and closing duties
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- One year of experience in a customer-facing position preferred
- Medical-related experience preferred
- Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Proficiency in internet usage
- Ability to lift and move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods
