About the Role
Researches, plans, and designs mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Works on routine problems and projects, following standard practices and procedures. Contact with others is primarily internal.
Responsibilities
- Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
- Specifies and/or designs tooling fixtures, special machinery, and equipment to facilitate the manufacture of parts and assemblies.
- Recommends and implements process improvements that will enhance manufacturing, quality and reduce cost of parts and assemblies.
- Interfaces with other engineers in fabrication of equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
- Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
- Ensures daily availability, including evenings and weekends when necessary, to reach goals and deadlines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from a four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
- 3-4 years of directly related experience and/or training.
- Proficiency with Solidworks.
- Ability to multi-task and set priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interface efficiently in a cross-functional group in an engineering and production environment.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
