About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Engineering, Shared Services to lead foundational teams that enable our product organization to build, ship, and operate high-quality enterprise software at scale. This role unifies Infrastructure, DevOps, and Quality Assurance into a shared services organization focused on reliability, scalability, operational excellence, delivery efficiency, and product quality. This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader who thrives in complex, customer-facing enterprise SaaS environments and brings strong systems thinking.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the Infrastructure, DevOps, and Quality Assurance teams as a unified Shared Services organization.
  • Champion high engineering standards around architecture, testing, reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence.
  • Establish clear workflows, SOPs, intake standards, and service models for shared engineering work.
  • Drive a platform-minded approach to infrastructure, DevOps, tooling, environments, automation, and robust QA practices.
  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Delivery, Services, and leadership to clarify priorities, manage dependencies, and improve execution.
  • Improve delivery predictability, estimation, release management, incident response, and change management practices.
  • Build a high-trust culture with clear roles, ownership, accountability, and career paths across shared services teams.
  • Improve developer experience through better tooling, automation, environments, CI/CD practices, and operational standards.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the technical architecture and business requirements to identify capacity, reliability, security, and delivery constraints.
  • Define and execute a comprehensive QA strategy aligned with company goals, customer expectations, and engineering priorities.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, QA, or shared engineering services teams in a high-growth enterprise SaaS environment.
  • Strong technical background in cloud-first architectures, distributed systems, APIs, infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and enterprise software delivery.
  • Experience improving engineering operating models, delivery predictability, release management, and cross-functional execution.
  • Experience designing scalable systems, reducing operational overhead, and improving reuse, consistency, and maintainability.
  • Strong understanding of QA strategy, automated testing, test coverage, defect management, and quality practices across the software development lifecycle.
  • Comfort operating in environments with external partners, incomplete requirements, complex delivery dependencies, and high customer expectations.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to translate technical tradeoffs, risks, and priorities clearly and empathetically.
  • A hands-on leadership style with strong attention to detail, a bias for action, and a track record of building healthy, high-performing teams.
  • Ability to identify and balance priorities in a high-growth, scale-up organization supporting B2B and B2B2C customers.
