About the Role
The DZ Driver/Picker plays a key role in the safe and efficient collection of residential waste, including yard waste, recycling, and garbage. This position requires adherence to municipal and environmental regulations while delivering dependable service to the community. Drivers are expected to maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, and customer service, ensuring proper waste disposal and respectful interactions with residents.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for various waste stream Residential Collections, including Yard Waste Collection, Blue Box and/or Green Bin Collection and Residential Garbage Collection.
- Provide customers with reliable and high-quality customer service.
- Adhere to the collection and delivery schedule to ensure all collected various waste streams are delivered to local Transfer Stations, Compost Facilities or Landfill Sites efficiently and appropriately.
- Follow all relevant policies and procedures of the Company, the MTO, Ministry of Environment as well as the by-laws of the Municipality.
- Work with employees, management, residents, and the public in a polite and respectful manner.
- Place all emptied waste receptacles back on the resident’s property, flipped upside down at the curb, in the same place that they were removed from.
- Lift and load garbage bags or cans weighing up to 50 lbs. from the ground into the hopper of a 2-person truck or into a side loader of a 1-person truck.
- Make in excess of 800-900 residential stops per day.
Requirements
- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols.
- Must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Must possess a valid DZ Driver's Licence.
- Must have a Clean Driver's Abstract & CVOR Abstract.
- Must be a team player with safe working habits.
- A physically fit lifestyle would be a benefit.
