About the Role

Stratford School is seeking a dynamic and engaging Computer Science & Math Substitute Teacher to support middle school students. This role is ideal for educators passionate about STEM education and working with students across grades 6–8 in a collaborative, college-preparatory environment. As a substitute teacher, you will deliver pre-planned lessons, maintain a positive and productive classroom environment, and provide continuity of learning in mathematics and computer science courses. Your ability to build rapport with students, adapt to different classroom settings, and foster critical thinking will ensure a successful learning experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver engaging math and computer science instruction using provided lesson plans.
Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture.
Manage classroom routines and student behavior effectively.
Encourage problem-solving, logical reasoning, and collaboration among students.
Maintain the organization, appearance, and functionality of the classroom.
Communicate professionally with school administrators and faculty regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and the school community.
Treat every student with kindness, respect, and professionalism.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Prior classroom experience, preferably in a middle school setting.
Knowledge of middle school mathematics and/or computer science concepts.
Ability to confidently manage a classroom and engage adolescent learners.
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Flexibility, adaptability, and creativity in a variety of classroom environments.
Ability to uphold Stratford School's high academic and behavioral expectations.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Frequently walk, stand, sit, squat, stoop, reach, kneel, rise from the floor, twist, listen, read, write, and speak the English language.
Often carry, lift, use repetitive or fine hand movements, and occasionally push, pull, or bend.
Regularly hear and use clear vision with or without correction.
