About the Role

Responsible for creating, co-coordinating, and implementing environmental, health, and safety programs to meet internal requirements and comply with government regulations. Maintains knowledge of current industry and regulatory trends, providing subject matter expertise. Develops long-range plans and EHS processes for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and implements Corporate and OSHA safety, fire safety, environmental, industrial hygiene, and hazardous materials programs at the site level.
• Reviews and audits site programs for compliance.
• Completes EHS evaluations for new projects and equipment modifications.
• Investigates incidents and employee complaints regarding safety, health, industrial hygiene, and ergonomics, making recommendations for improvements.
• Develops and conducts safety training (New Employee Management, LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical, machine guarding).
• Manages the Industrial Hygiene (IH) monitoring plan and conducts monitoring (noise, air, and Radio Frequency).
• Performs follow-up and assures closure of safety and health recommendations from audits, inspections, and hazard reports.
• Manages various EHS Programs (Contractor, Fire System, Ergonomic, Radiation Safety) as assigned.
• Creates and performs safety and environmental inspections.
• Completes OSHA logs, environmental, and hazardous material regulatory reporting.
• Develops and conducts Safety Leadership Training.
• Conducts periodic audits of Site Programs.
• Acts as Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Team Lead and supports site safety committees.
• May be assigned supervisory responsibility for Safety team members.
• Follows up on inspection and hazard reporting program findings.
• Serves as the EHS Manager’s back up, including support of staff activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or required.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Skills

• Knowledge of EHS management systems.
• Understanding of various OSHA, EPA, TCEQ, DOT/IATA regulations.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
• Excellent speaking skills with ability to communicate with all levels of employees and present/facilitate training.
• Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Project management skills including organizing tasks to successfully complete projects within selected time frames.
• Strong computer literacy and application proficiency.

Experience Level

• Five or more years of experience in both safety and/or environmental roles in a manufacturing or similar environment (preferably pharmaceutical).
• Experience leading successful teams preferred.
• Experience at a Voluntary Protection Program site is a plus.

Education Level

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• In lieu of a degree, 10 or more relevant years of field experience will be considered.
• Preferred CIH, CSP, CHMM or environmental certification.
