About the Role
This is a citywide exam posting for the Social Work Supervisor position. Passing the exam will place candidates on an eligible list for future hiring by city departments. The role involves supervising social workers, monitoring casework, managing staff development, ensuring compliance, and preparing reports.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the schedule and work activities of a unit by planning and delegating work.
- Manage the professional development of staff through selection, training, coaching, and feedback.
- Ensure staff's work meets program compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- Coach staff on emergency calls and crisis situations.
- Handle regular consultations and unit meetings.
- Attend program meetings and participate in program or policy improvement initiatives.
- Build collaborative relationships with staff, supervisors, other departments, professionals, and community partners.
- Respond to inquiries and referrals from staff, other departments, community organizations, and the general public.
- Investigate complaints and recommend corrective action.
- Research opportunities for continuous improvement and stay up-to-date on social services best practices.
- Prepare quantitative and narrative reports for managers and stakeholders.
Requirements
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
- Three (3) years (6,000 hours) of verifiable social casework or employment services experience with a public or private agency/organization.
- Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling may substitute for one year of experience.
- Additional experience may be substituted for the required degree on a year-for-year basis (up to a maximum of two years).
- Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualification requirements by the filing deadline.
- Falsifying education, training, or work experience may result in disqualification.
