About the Role
The Payroll Analyst ensures accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with regulations. This role analyzes payroll data, resolves discrepancies, supports audits, and collaborates with HR, Finance, and vendors to optimize payroll processes.
Responsibilities
- Process and validate bi-weekly payroll.
- Review payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, deductions, benefits, bonuses, and taxes.
- Analyze payroll reports to identify discrepancies or trends.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, labor laws, and tax regulations.
- Research and resolve payroll issues, including employee inquiries.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure proper documentation for audits.
- Support internal and external payroll audits.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance on compensation changes, new hires, terminations, and benefits updates.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and general ledger entries.
- Assist in payroll system maintenance, upgrades, and testing.
- Prepare payroll-related reports for management, including budget vs. actual expenses, payroll accruals, commission statements, and raise/budget details.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Experience with payroll systems and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft GP or similar ERP systems preferred).
- Paylocity payroll system knowledge is preferred.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments.
- Experience managing multi-state payroll operations.
- Support system implementations, upgrades, or process improvement projects.
- Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
- Occasional standing, walking, and reaching to access files or office supplies.
- Manual dexterity for typing, filing, and handling office equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
- Visual acuity to read printed and digital materials.
- Auditory ability to communicate effectively in person and over the phone.
- May need to climb stairs in a multi-level office building.
