About the Role
This leader will be integral to the team, responsible for establishing and leading a global function of strategy and insights within the Cardiac Rhythm Management business unit. This role plays a critical part in shaping strategic direction, identifying growth opportunities, and driving short-term and long-term goals for a billion-dollar, global business. The position will also focus on understanding global markets, market share, competition, and leading market research efforts to understand unmet market needs and market trends. This leader is a crucial partner to the executive leadership team for developing growth strategies and will be involved in organic and inorganic market growth options, driving strategic plans and executing key insights.
Responsibilities
- Lead the Global Strategy and Insights organization, setting goals, defining priorities, hiring talent, building capabilities, and managing budget and operations.
- Champion a customer-centric culture and drive cross-functional, cross-regional collaboration.
- Perform initial analysis and ongoing product management of long-tail lateral flow product lines, including lifecycle management recommendations.
- Provide strategic leadership, planning, and direction to drive growth and profitability through annual strategic planning and ongoing initiatives.
- Guide franchise and functional plans, ensuring alignment with BU strategy.
- Identify market opportunities to differentiate the business and enable profitable growth.
- Drive portfolio optimization of new and existing products.
- Build a consistent fact base of market size, share, and growth across franchises and regions.
- Drive cross-functional alignment to form the 'single source of truth' for OEM, LBE, NPI, and business assessments.
- Assess customer needs, conduct competitive analysis, and identify enabling products, technologies, and business levers.
- Conduct market research to capture customer insights and articulate market landscape, including unmet needs, value proposition refinement, pricing elasticity, and ethnography for new product adoption.
- Manage complex data analytics and research projects, and select/manage external research agencies and consultants.
- Develop and manage contracting for data and market research.
- Strengthen competitive positioning by capturing industry trends, stakeholder dynamics, and competitor activities.
- Conduct scenario planning, weekly market surveillance, industry conference intelligence, and deep dives on competitors, products, and critical events.
- Be accountable for the budget.
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Marketing, Global leaders, and Commercial Excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Master's degree (MBA preferred) due to heavy involvement in solving business problems and understanding business operations and market environment.
- Minimum 12 years of work experience.
- Forecasting and planning experience with five years of management experience.
- Global experience in a finance or planning capacity preferred.
- Project Management experience.
- Management consulting or healthcare strategy experience preferred.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience interacting effectively with Senior Management.
- Leadership and team orientation; ability to work with others in a matrixed environment.
- Knowledge and skills in Market Intelligence techniques and sales forecasting.
- Experience with advanced forecasting techniques, such as regression analysis, cluster analysis, conjoint analysis, and discrete choice modeling.
- Strong knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and PC skills for modeling.
- Domestic and International interface experience.
