About the Role
Penn Wood Products, Inc. is seeking a Mechanical / Industrial / Process Engineer to work on high-priority manufacturing improvement projects. This role involves identifying opportunities to enhance speed, quality, safety, and environmental conditions, as well as automating processes and increasing Overall Equipment Effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Work on high priority manufacturing improvement projects in the plant.
- Study and analyze potential improvement opportunities.
- Help calculate potential savings and cost justify projects.
- Work with staff and outside vendors to provide solution options.
- Deliver project management leadership and execute improvements.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and provide status updates to management.
- Drive projects and assist with annual budget planning.
- Analyze manufacturing data (Productivity, Quality, Delivery, Safety, Environmental, Maintenance) to identify improvement opportunities.
- Work with suppliers to specify equipment for improvement projects.
- Design and conduct pilot and production scale processes and tests.
- Document and evaluate data, and write technical reports.
- Identify process equipment through testing and establish operating parameters.
- Provide process flow diagrams.
- Specify, install, and commission new process equipment.
- Prepare documentation of project work, including engineering calculations, process design documentation, and process test reports.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, engineering, and equipment manufacturers.
- Design, troubleshoot, and optimize manufacturing processes and products.
Requirements
- Eligibility to work in the United States for any employer.
- A valid Driver's License and a means of reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift fifty pounds.

- Strong problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills.
- Desire to work hands-on in laboratory and manufacturing environments with equipment & products.
- Ability to apply understanding of sciences (chemistry, engineering) and mathematics to provide technical support.

- Proficiency with common Windows based computer software programs, including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access.
- Experience or familiarity with AutoCAD, Robotics, and programming languages is preferred.
