About the Role
RSM is seeking an Assurance Manager to join their Private Client Services team, offering the chance to work on diverse client engagements within a national practice. Assurance professionals at RSM help companies navigate challenging business cycles and improve performance.
Responsibilities
- Provide timely, high-quality client service exceeding expectations, including coordinating audit, review, and compilation engagements.
- Assess risk and design/communicate engagement team procedures.
- Utilize RSM's review, compilation, and audit methodology.
- Manage multiple engagement teams and conduct staff performance evaluations.
- Supervise engagement teams, monitor productivity, and ensure adherence to work plan schedules.
- Maintain client contact to understand business developments and their impact on engagements.
- Develop colleagues through training and career advising.
- Stay informed on industry publications and share relevant information with clients.
- Anticipate and address client concerns, escalating issues as needed.
- Identify opportunities to introduce clients to other RSM services.
- Develop strategies to leverage external relationships for business growth.
- Manage project profitability.
- Identify and communicate accounting and engagement matters to senior leadership.
- Identify performance improvement opportunities.
- Ensure professional development through ongoing education.
- Stay updated on GAAP and Firm standards and policies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited university.
- Active CPA (or equivalent certification) required.
- 5+ years of recent assurance experience in a public accounting environment with external audit exposure.
- Strong technical proficiency in financial reporting, audit procedures, and auditing standards (GAAP, CASs, or other relevant regulatory requirements).
- Proven experience leading and managing audit engagements and teams.
- Strong project management skills, including managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with firm personnel and clients.
- Ability to apply sound business judgment, risk awareness, and ethical integrity.
- Ability to work effectively in a professional office environment and at client sites.
- Ability to work extended and/or non-standard hours during peak periods.
- Ability to maintain consistent onsite presence during core business hours and travel to client sites as required.
