About the Role
The Assistant Warehouse Technician assists the Warehouse Manager in maintaining safe and efficient operations for receiving, delivering, and storing supplies and inventory. This role also involves overseeing warehouse activities and promoting sustainable practices within daily work.
Responsibilities
- Assist in managing warehouse activities to ensure safe and streamlined operations of receiving, delivering, and inventorying supplies and materials.
- Perform daily tasks and projects, continuing work in the absence of the Warehouse Manager.
- Receive inventory and stock products.
- Ensure safe and efficient workflow and operations of the atrium and warehouse spaces.
- Verify purchase order numbers, received materials/products, and quantities, resolving issues and archiving information.
- Perform daily atrium operations including parking, equipment safety checks, housekeeping, organizing spaces, and managing traffic.
- Assist in the disposal or sale of surplus materials according to NYS regulations.
- Collaborate with other staff and contractors as needed.
- Assist with research, ordering parts and materials, and managing work orders.
- Assist with inventory management of commonly used supplies, tools, and parts.
- Assist with public educational activities such as tours, volunteer groups, and events when requested.
- Assist in creating and updating records and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Safely and effectively operate equipment, including vehicles, hand tools, power equipment, and safety equipment.
- Maintain a high standard for safety by cautioning off sites for workplace and public safety.
- Use personal protective equipment and adhere to all safety rules and regulations.
- Identify and report issues and hazards appropriately and timely.
- Perform emergency and non-emergency work as assigned, including event support and severe weather response.
- Maintain professionalism, including when interacting with the public.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in warehouse, inventorying, and/or stocking.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
- OSHA 30, certifications, higher education, and/or trainings on relevant skills preferred.
- Certifications of relevant equipment, i.e., forklifts preferred.
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness S94 preferred.
- Experience with warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks preferred.
- Experience working in public settings and knowledge of sustainability practices preferred.

- Knowledge of warehouse operations and commonly used equipment.
- Ability to operate tools and equipment to perform tasks.

- Ability to interact well with staff at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to learn new skills and maintain up-to-date information on relevant skills and techniques.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
