About the Role
The Legal Coordinator / Junior Business Affairs associate will work closely with our senior legal and business affairs team to support day-to-day operations and take on meaningful substantive work and real responsibility from day one. This is a dual-function role: part administrative and operational support, part active participation in contract review and legal analysis. The right candidate is someone who wants to build a career at the intersection of law and professional sports.
Responsibilities
- Draft and redline contracts with the supervision of senior legal staff
- Research relevant legislation and rules & regulations for college and professional sports
- Handle full submission process for client deals to NIL Go
- Manage and triage intake and routing of incoming contracts, correspondence, and legal documents
- Work cross-functionally with agents, clients, teams, and third-party partners to facilitate document execution
- Oversee state registrations for NIL team and NBA agents
- Maintain and organize internal library of digital and physical contracts, templates, precedents for client legal matters
- Coordinate the legal team's calendar, including deadlines, logistics for contract signings and filings, and meetings
- Assist with client onboarding documentation, representation agreements, and compliance materials
- Provide general administrative support to the business affairs team as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
- J.D. from an accredited law school, or entering the final year of law school with the ability to work full time during normal working hours
- 1-4 years of work experience or training
- Strong interest in sports law and athlete representation
- Passion for basketball
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Sign
- Prior internship or work experience at a sports agency, sports team, or law firm with a sports or entertainment practice
- Experience reviewing or drafting contracts
- Bar admission or eligibility
- Working knowledge of the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and NCAA Rules and Regulations, including the House settlement
