  • Improve data mapping and data flow documentation.
  • Propose and help implement refinements to data classification, retention, and governance processes.
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in the data governance framework and recommend improvements.
  • Support the rollout of framework enhancements.
  • Provide day-to-day support for privacy processes.
  • Log and coordinate responses to subject access requests.
  • Track consent and retention records within product data.
  • Support retention and deletion housekeeping.
  • Escalate complex GDPR questions or potential issues to Compliance.
  • Maintain data governance trackers, registers, and dashboards.
  • Produce regular data quality and governance status updates.
  • Support internal reviews and audits with accurate records.
  • Act as the day-to-day link between Product, Engineering, and Compliance on client data matters.
  • Flag data governance considerations early in product changes and new features.
  • Support colleagues with queries about client data structure, storage, and usage.

Requirements

  • Experience in a data governance, data analysis, data operations, or similar role, ideally within financial services or a fintech environment.
  • Track record of identifying gaps in a data governance process or framework and proposing practical, workable improvements.
  • Working knowledge of UK GDPR principles (lawful basis, consent, retention, subject access requests) at a practical, applied level.
  • Experience working hands-on with client or customer data in an operational or product context.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and comfort working with data inventories, trackers, or dashboards.
