About the Role

The purpose of this assignment is to support the UNICEF Syria Country Office and the Ministry of Health in achieving objectives related to analyzing nutrition trends and formulating recommendations to reverse the trend of wasting prevalence. The role involves conducting a comprehensive comparative analysis of nutrition indicators and presenting findings through visually compelling formats.

Responsibilities

• Conduct a comprehensive comparative analysis of all indicators assessed in SMART 2023 and SMART 2025.
• Summarize the outcome of the analysis using compelling state-of-the-art visual methods and infographics to inform a communication strategy targeting diverse audiences, including non-technical people.
• Formulate strategic and actionable recommendations for Syria to reverse the trend of wasting prevalence based on the analysis.
• Support the Country Office and the Ministry of Health in strengthening evidence-based programming to address child malnutrition.
• Analyze nutrition trends and translate complex data into clear, actionable insights.
• Present findings through innovative, visually compelling formats such as infographics tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Develop strategic, evidence-based recommendations to support national efforts to reverse the rising trend of wasting in Syria.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Public Health/Nutrition, Nutrition Epidemiology, Statistics, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in conducting primary data collection or secondary data analysis and documenting public health and nutrition work at national and international level, some of which preferably were served in a developing country.
• Must have authored at least two high-quality secondary data analysis or research reports in the last 5 years, at least two of them being related to nutrition programming.
• Demonstrates excellent writing skills, and strong communication, in particular for the development of technical documents.
• Demonstrates experience and knowledge of the latest developments and issues related to public health nutrition.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.
• Familiarity with digital tools that visualize data such as MS, AI.
