About the Role
eBay Live is a new selling channel on eBay that uses live video to connect buyers and sellers, fostering trust and driving repeat business. This role will lead and scale the Trading Cards category within eBay Live, focusing on growth across supply, demand, content, trust, and product innovation. It's a highly visible, GM-style leadership position with end-to-end accountability.
Responsibilities
- Own Category P&L & Business Outcomes, including GMV and revenue targets.
- Act as General Manager for Trading Cards on eBay Live, accountable for financial performance.
- Manage budget for seller incentives, marketing, and programming to maximize ROI.
- Define and execute the category strategy, considering market dynamics, seller economics, and buyer behavior.
- Prioritize initiatives across supply growth, demand generation, content, trust, and product capabilities.
- Translate strategy into clear roadmaps and execution plans.
- Define assortment strategy, including target buyer segments and inventory profiles.
- Set criteria for seller selection and onboarding.
- Recruit, onboard, and scale high-potential sellers in partnership with Business Development.
- Negotiate commercial agreements and incentive structures with sellers and vendors.
- Lead the creation of entertaining, high-conversion live content tailored to different shopping modes.
- Develop and refine run-of-show playbooks for live shopping.
- Ensure a differentiated eBay Live experience in Trading Cards through trusted sellers, strong inventory, and unique programming.
- Lead cross-functional teams including Business Development, onboarding, account management, programming, operations, and product.
- Influence senior stakeholders to align resources and remove blockers.
- Drive execution with operational rigor and adaptability.
- Build, hire, coach, and retain a high-performing direct team of 5-10 individuals.
- Evolve team structure, operating rhythms, and category processes as the business scales.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent; MBA strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of relevant ecommerce, marketplace, or retail experience, including direct work with sellers and/or brands.
- Experience in Trading Cards, collectibles, sports memorabilia, hobby retail, or enthusiast commerce strongly preferred.
- Proven experience owning or influencing P&L, GMV, or revenue targets.
- Strong interest in, or experience with, live selling, video commerce, or creator-led marketplaces.
- Demonstrated success leading and developing teams with entrepreneurial DNA.
- Ability to operate in a highly competitive category where trust, selection, speed, and experience quality matter.
- Exceptional strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to use data to identify patterns, set direction, and iterate quickly.
- Strong cross-functional leadership, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels and build trusted seller relationships.
- Willingness to travel up to ~15% for seller meetings, industry events, and team offsites.
