About the Role

The Senior Analyst, Capital Markets & Financial Operations provides operational support for financial instruments, including confirmations, settlements, hedge accounting, and fair valuations. This role serves as a key member of the Accounting and Finance team, managing middle-office and back-office functions for securities trading while supporting banking operations, procurement, and accounts payable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage settlements for security transactions, including swap payments and receipts.
  • Coordinate with Treasury/Capital Markets traders, custodians, and counterparties to resolve settlement issues.
  • Manage trade uploads to the CDS custodian portal and reconcile internal and external confirmations.
  • Ensure accurate settlement uploads into the Treasury duration reporting system.
  • Maintain the daily trade blotter and verify bond price details.
  • Flag unmatched transactions to enhance transparency.
  • Review and verify payment settlements for accuracy and compliance.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payment instructions.
  • Track payment wires for FX forwards and interest rate swaps.
  • Validate data input against contractual terms for derivatives.
  • Conduct regular investigations to ensure data accuracy.
  • Prepare and maintain reports on daily trades, settlements, and wire creations.
  • Implement measures to ensure transparent trades and align with governance standards.
  • Maintain controls over securities, derivative valuations, and hedge accounting transactions.
  • Document new operational processes and develop process improvement initiatives.
  • Complete ad-hoc projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • University or post-graduate education in Accounting, Commerce, or Business.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a financial institution’s middle office for financial operations.
  • Ability to communicate technical, analytical, or conceptual information clearly.
  • Basic understanding of financial instruments, specifically FX forwards and interest rate swaps.
  • Familiarity with banking systems and payment processing platforms.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks related to financial transactions.
  • Ability to work extensively with formulas, data, and spreadsheets.
  • Ability to multi-task competing priorities.
  • Ability to work in both team and individual environments.
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and credit check.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (VBA macros preferred)
