About the Role
The Life Enrichment Assistant is responsible for developing and coordinating activity programs for the community that reflect the varied interests of the residents, providing them with meaningful and life-enriching activities. This role involves creating programming that encompasses physical, social, intellectual, and artistic facets of an individual's being, including activities both within and outside the community.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers.
- Cultivate staff involvement in activities.
- Attend training courses and maintain up-to-date training records through the designated Learning Management System (LMS).
- Communicate activity programs and upcoming events to department supervisors.
- Create daily/monthly activity calendars detailing program dates, times, and locations.
- Coordinate and host special events, including holiday events, and decorate the community accordingly.
- Facilitate monthly resident meetings to gather feedback on services.
- Submit resident feedback to the Executive Director.
- Maintain adequate activity equipment supplies within budgetary guidelines.
- Arrange transportation for regular and special outings.
- Cultivate opportunities for residents to engage with community centers and service projects.
- Maintain a strong knowledge of the community, its benefits, services, healthcare, residents, and employees.
Requirements
- Experience in creating and coordinating activities for older adults.
- Ability to supervise, lead, and motivate people.
- Able to delegate responsibility while maintaining oversight of daily activities and major projects.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment and training is preferred.
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed/scheduled.
- Knowledge of the requirements for providing care and supervision to the elderly.
- Must have a strong understanding of the English language sufficient to read, write, and interpret administrative information.
