About the Role
Go-Ahead London is seeking a driven and forward-thinking Engineering Supervisor to ensure the engineering running shift team works effectively and efficiently. This role is crucial for maintaining a sufficient fleet of fit vehicles for service and efficiently addressing breakdowns and on-road faults in a fast-paced, high-tech transport environment.
Responsibilities
- Allocate work and duties to the engineering team to ensure sufficient vehicles are available to provide the required service.
- Ensure the engineering team effectively and efficiently deliver planned and unplanned maintenance.
- Ensure the PVR (Peak Vehicle Requirement) is delivered and managed daily, likely involving cooperation with the Operations Teams.
- Review vehicles and assign a status to each, ensuring unsafe and unfit vehicles do not enter service and logging any lost mileage.
- Highlight any specific mileage challenges that may arise.
- Conduct frequent and regular reviews of the facilities and workshop, covering general housekeeping, health, and safety.
- Report any issues and defects found in the facilities and workshop.
- Ensure visitors or contractors working in the engineering department have the necessary permits.
- Supervise any engineering contractors.
- Carry out quality checks on vehicles, ensuring they meet DVSA and company standards.
- Manage the running shift engineers during your shift, ensuring they have the skills and ability to perform their roles.
- Conduct performance management for running shift engineers.
- Ensure time at work for running shift engineers is effective and productive.
Requirements
- Prior experience managing a team of engineers is essential.
- Ability to motivate colleagues to work collaboratively to deliver required vehicle maintenance.
- Flexibility is required.
- Ability to work under pressure without close supervision.
- Demonstrate initiative and adaptability.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to quickly learn technologies unique to our business.
