About the Role
The Associate, Collateral Management is responsible for supporting the daily collateral management function across exchange-traded derivatives, OTC derivatives, repurchase agreements, credit facilities, and liquidity management activities. The role ensures the timely processing of margin obligations, collateral movements, and funding requirements while maintaining a strong control environment and mitigating operational risk. The Associate works closely with members of Treasury and Public Markets Operations (TPMO) and collaborates with Investments, Investment Finance, Risk, Legal, and other internal stakeholders to support investment activities, strategic initiatives, regulatory requirements, and project deliverables. The role also involves regular interaction with external counterparties, including custodians, brokers, banks, and service providers. This position reports to the Manager, Collateral Management.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute daily collateral and exposure reports to internal stakeholders, including Investments, Risk, Treasury, and Investment Finance teams.
- Monitor daily margin requirements across Exchange Traded Derivatives, CSA, and GMRA ensuring all calls are accurately calculated and processed.
- Process cash and non-cash collateral movements in a timely manner and ensure transactions are settled within market and counterparty deadlines.
- Monitor collateral inventory and available liquidity to ensure sufficient assets are available to meet margin and funding obligations.
- Coordinate the preparation and execution of credit facility documentation and letters of credit to support investment activities, ensuring timely settlement and resolution of any related issues.
- Process collateral-related corporate actions, interest payments, fees, and other operational events as required.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, strengthen controls, and mitigate operational risk.
- Maintain effective working relationships with external counterparties, including banks, custodians, brokers, administrators, and service providers.
- Investigate and resolve settlement discrepancies, margin disputes, and operational exceptions in a timely manner.
- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of collateral management procedures, controls, and documentation.
Requirements
- 2–5 years of experience in the financial services industry, with a preference for candidates with Capital Markets, Treasury, Investment Operations, or Collateral Management experience.
- Solid understanding of capital markets products, investment operations, trade lifecycles, and supporting business functions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships and collaborate with internal stakeholders, external counterparties, clients, and vendors.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with the ability to assess risks, identify opportunities for process improvements, and recommend practical solutions.
- High degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining data integrity and operational excellence.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Access, with experience using treasury, trading, custodian, and banking platforms considered an asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment.
- Self-motivated team player with a continuous improvement mindset and a strong focus on delivering high-quality results.
