About the Role

Riverdale Country School seeks a curious and creative Software Solutions Engineer to join their all-school technology team. This role focuses on designing, developing, and maintaining custom applications and integrating core platforms, with a strong emphasis on utilizing AI and operating within a Google Cloud-centric environment. Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain interactive web applications for visualizing academic history and planning course progressions.
  • Implement AI-driven conversational interfaces for secure data querying.
  • Build and support internal applications, including a job description management system and cloud storage auditing tools.
  • Develop dynamic, data-driven organizational and departmental flowcharts.
  • Architect and maintain integrations between core platforms (Veracross SIS, ADP, Lever).
  • Centralize disparate data sources into a unified warehouse for reporting and analytics.
  • Create proactive 'Student Dashboards' for Deans and Counselors.
  • Develop scripts and API integrations to replace manual processes.
  • Use AI extensively as an accelerant for development workflows and as a building block in applications.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and comprehensive documentation for code, system architecture, and user guides.
  • Design and develop applications adhering to web accessibility standards (WCAG) and high usability.
  • Solicit community feedback and proactively address bugs.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of professional development experience, or equivalent project experience in a related field.
  • Development experience in Google Workspace and the Google Cloud ecosystem, including hands-on experience with Google Apps Script and the Sheets/Drive APIs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of one or more web frameworks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of APIs, data modeling, and visualization.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate complex administrative needs into elegant technical solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Awareness of information security standards and best practices, including data privacy and role-based access control, especially in an educational environment.
