About the Role
Aird and Berlis LLP is seeking a Legal Assistant to independently manage and organize the daily operations of a group of Financial Services legal professionals. This role requires initiative, prioritization, multitasking, strong technical skills, and attention to detail for complex financing arrangements and transactions. A legal assistant background with experience in Financial Services or Corporate law is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Edit and organize all necessary transactional documentation
- Provide administrative support on all transactions, including signature page packages, wire confirmations, organization of outgoing wires, and preparation/compilation of record books
- Maintain expiry tickler
- Communicate professionally with all internal and external clients
- Manage client file openings and conflict checks
- Manage duties related to accounting, including billing and paying invoices
- Produce the highest quality of work
- Accountable for all work assigned
- Calendar management
- Takes initiative
- Confidentiality
Requirements
- Five years of previous experience as a legal assistant
- Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant and/or Law Clerk program
- Ability to handle time pressure and stress of multiple demands
Skills
- Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications
- Experience with creating, numbering, styling, and rebuilding documents
- Familiarity using DocuSign and Closing Folders
- Good judgement and decision making
